Am Writing, Photography

Hello, Summer!

I have been a little MIA and not motivated to publish blog posts for some time. I just published the choppiest blog post about my first three months of the year. I was a bit impatient trying to write something that should’ve been published months ago and sitting on old topics that I have missed the opportunity on.

So, what’s new right now as we wrap-up the month of June?
Let’s just see, shall we?

Birthday Weekend Reflections

Yesterday, June 19th, I turned 28. Whoop! I recall a few years ago that I never thought I would make it past 21. It was an odd mental block and fear I had because of the negative childhood I was surrounded by and influenced from. Thankfully, I have continued to live on past my own inner struggles and learned how to focus my mindset towards peace and prosperity.
In regards to my birthday weekend, some years I stay home and party solo; others, I throw a fun party with friends and family. This year, I stayed in my room all day on my birthday and enjoyed being in solitude. The night before my birthday, I got to hang out with new friends for a combination birthday party. Truly, after the year that was 2020 and even the start of 2021, I am glad I got to start my newest solar return with a fresh and relaxing start!

As this post is being written, I have laundry going to set me up for a successful week ahead. I had been putting off the laundry for over two weeks now. Luckily, I was able to take a nap today and then refocus to just do the one thing today that’s on my top priority list: laundry. While I am at my friends house doing laundry, I am doing one load of clothes before I return home to go to bed. I still hav eanother full basket at home that can wait for other days this week. I may return tomorrow and accomplish another load or two before returning home, after work. The fun reason why I come here to the country house for laundry is becasue this space allows me to just be at the dining room table, enjoy the country view, and do laundry for free. As someone who has been living in apartments for over four years, I save as much change as possible by either doing laudnry at a friends house or at home-by hand.

The past two academic semesters, spring 2021 and fall 2020, did not go as planned. Mental health and motivation went south and I struggled with keeping up with two courses. I’ve documented my academic progress many times here and a theme that occurs is when I over commit my schedule and allow myself to crash-and-burn. I was going to take one summer course but that’s the habit I needed to break: starting school again after having struggled through a semester thinking a quick restart would be useful. This summer, I am grateful I took the summer off from school to reset my world and focus on serenity (my intention word of the year).
I have not yet decided if and when I will return to the University of Oklahoma as a Junior. I only have fifteen or so courses left till graduation. If I do return this fall, I will only start with one or two courses and working part-time. Other than that, I may wait till the spring to return.

For the past three years, I have been using my iPhone to practice my photography skills. Since June 2020, I have been able to use my Canon Rebel T6 for learning professional photography. Being here in the Oklahoma area, I have been able to work on my nature photography in the southeastern hills of Oklahoma and even some photography of Oklahoma City. I’m hoping to continue my photography business throughout this year taking graduation photos, engagement photos, and headshots of my clients. If you are in the Oklahoma area, you can email me for bookings! I am especially looking forward to fall photograhy in September and October when the weather is cool and the sunsets are just as gorgeous. ❤

For now, I think this will be a nice place to pause and submit tonight’s blog post. Slowly, I will be more active on my website to share my creative insights, reflections, and TIS (Taking Inventory Series) posts with the world. In July, I will be restarting the TIS posts to be more accurate about the little things going on in my world every month from what I’m listening to and watching to the emotions going into the new month.

For all of you who have stuck with me over the years, I want to thank you for your support. And for my newest readers and besties, thank you for taking the time to connect with your tribe. Until next time, enjoy the rest of your summer!
