Now that the NFL season is over and commercial excitement has faded, let’s dive into the massive pile of books on my coffee table for the month of February. And hey, some of these books may roll over to March’s reading pile.

02.2024 TBR Pile
02.2024 TBR (To Be Read)
In my previous blog post, I wrote about how I tend to write the an occassional monthly check-in post and then completely forget about the reading post for the month. Well, here I am writing about the books I’m reading and listening to during the second month of the year!
Here’s the numbers for February:
+ 13 books checked out from the library
+ 1 audiobook from the library
+ 1 personal library book I’m reading off and on
Check out my previous post about life events and emotions going on in the month of February. If you wanna see the stack of books on the coffee table keep reading!
Am Reading
With less than six weeks left till the spring season begins, I wanted to start another one of Julie Cameron’s Artist workbooks to prepare me for writing more consistently. I am now on week two of Write For Life, a program mimmicking The Artist’s Way through morning pages and artist dates.
A book I started in January is one that is fantastic to read before bed. The House Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock goes into the spiritual aspect of maintaing order in your hearth and home. For example, there’s a section on protection spells you can create and the intentions you can set to keep your home positive and homey. I bought this book at Half Price Books and I am interested in reading this author’s two other books: Kitchen Witch and Green Witch.
While we are in the midst of winter and the holidays are past us, I wanted to read a Christmas book to wrap up the seasons greetings. The weather wasn’t too cold the past two weeks until we had snow last night, adding to the holdiay ambience of Mary Kay Andrews book, bright lights, big christmas. Last year, I read Homewreckers and truly enjoyed her debut novel. I didn’t know she wrote a Christmas book until I saw this gem on display at my library!

Another book I am reading will be part of a discussion with an online financial wellness group I am a part of on Facebook. I finally got to check this out two weeks ago from the library and I will finally begin chapter one tomorrow! Get Good with Money by Tiffany Aliche is a self-help book filled with her life story about money management, financial wellness, and her educational outreach to help others become better with money. Our online book club will be discussing this book on the last Sunday of February and I have a LOT of catching up to do! Which reminds me, I need to find a notebook to take notes in so that I can improve on my own finances.
Audiobook
This book is due soon and there’s only ten days left till I have to return this book on Libby.
I’ve been enjoying listening to Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series ever since her hilarious novels were recommended to me at least two years ago. I am on the 10th novel and the fact that Janet can keep the characters consistent, evolving, and humours for multiple books in a series is marvelous! Ten Big Ones takes you on an adventure with Stephanie Plum and her gang of bounty hunters as they have misteps that lead them on an adventure. There’s a little bit of romance involved, which has helped me as a writer (who struggles with crafting romantic scenes and plotlines) consider out of the box ideas and concepts when crafting short stories.
Below is the photo of my TBR pile! A couple of the books I’m going to be using for research and quick browsing. Then, there’s two books that I am borrowing from the Unitarian church library that I hope to complete by the time we start the spring season.

What books are you reading this month? I’d love to add a book from your TBR pile to my future TBR pile!
Until next time-
Cheers,
Danielle
